Pause, Breathe, and Listen

Life is filled with so many distractions that compete for your attention. Test after trial comes your way, and sometimes it feels like you want to wave the white flag, and I say I surrender. Take time to pause and breathe. Sometimes you have to step away from the situation and regroup. Whatever you do, make sure that you keep God at the center of it all.

In everyday life, we have to make decisions. Sometimes it seems like the day is going by so fast because you are pulled in different directions. God says in His Word that He would order our steps. For Him to order them, we have to make sure that we are listening for the directions. I am a firm believer that God will speak to you and show you the way that you should go. We must make sure that we are not allowing the distractions of the world to drown out His voice.

It is easy to get caught in work, clubs, meetings, and social media. Taking time to step away from it all and getting quiet will help you make sure that your steps are ordered. In those quiet times, you can tune into what God is saying because God is always speaking. Even when we are going on with our day-to-day tasks, asleep in our beds, shopping, or driving, God is speaking. We have to make sure that we are tuning in and listening to what He is saying.

Tests and trials can hit us hard in life, and we cry out to God for answers. We get caught up in the why, the what, and the who. As Elijah did, we soon learn that God does not speak in the great strong wind, the earthquake, or the fire. It’s the still small voice that we have to get still and get quiet to hear. God promised that He would never leave us or forsake us. So in those tough times or in the times that you want to give up, pause, breathe and listen to what God is saying to you.
