I am so glad that God has uniquely created and formed each one of us for his personal use. Each person serves a significant purpose in this world, and it is our job to walk the path that God has predestined us to walk so that our purpose in life can be fulfilled. Make sure that you are not comparing your walk with someone else’s walk. God intentionally made us different from each other because we all have different roles to play. Can I be transparent? There was a time when I struggled with who God created me to be. I had to learn that it is okay to be your authentic self. Being true to who God created you allows Father God to use you for His glory.
If you struggle with your identity, ask God. Why? Because our identity is found in Him. Acts 17:28 says,” For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.” Who else better to ask than the God that created you and knew before you were conceived in your mother’s wound! If you struggle with your purpose, again, ask God! Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Don’t allow your past or current mistakes to hold you back from being used. We are human, and God knows that. Does this give us a license to go out and intentionally do the opposite of what we know is right? Absolutely not!! God is not a play toy. God knows that there will be times that we will miss the mark, but He still wants to use us for His glory anyway…isn’t that amazing. God is not like man. I have learned in life that some people will hold your past against you despite your doing good. God’s unfailing love and mercy allow us the freedom to come to Him, confess where we missed it, receive forgiveness, and get back on track.
God took His time and skillfully designed you. There is a saying that no one knows you better than you. Well, that’s not a true statement. God knows you better than you know yourself. Think about it…there are gifts and talents that you have yet to tap into. But God knows about them because He placed them there. Ask God to help you to see the you that He sees and embrace it. Be okay with being the odd person out. What do I mean by that? You don’t always have to go along with the crowd just because they are doing something. Stop allowing the wrong people to get into your ear and persuade your thinking. Sometimes people can give you great ideas and suggestions, but they don’t line up with the path that you are on. Realize that some people may not understand when you do certain things, act, or respond in a certain way. This is okay because Jesus went through the same thing. The Pharisees had a lot to say about Him when he ate at the table with the unclean or when he performed miracles. Jesus did not allow the naysayers to get to Him because He knew His purpose and His assignment. Know your purpose. Know your assignment. Know that you were uniquely designed for God’s use!!
