It’s Working For Your Good

What do you do when you feel like you’re facing something greater than yourself? How do you respond when you don’t have the words to say? What position do you take when you are unsure of how to stand against such a test? How do you maneuver through so many situations that come at you at one time? Which one do you deal with first when they are all pulling at you? Out of nowhere, life can present these situations, at times it is hard to see your way through, and sometimes it can seem as if you cannot make it through.

Let me encourage you today that you can, and will, get through. Trials come to make you stronger. How do they make you stronger when it seems like they are breaking you? I believe that there are times when situations come that will bring you to a place of brokeness. Think about it and ask yourself…. have you ever found yourself in a position where you feel like you have no fight left, and you find yourself asking God what do you do next? Despite those dark times, we have to remember that God is there.

Let’s go back to the brokenness. What happens when something breaks? We are quick to throw it away. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean that we are broken to the point that we cannot be fixed and must be discarded. God does not discard us when we feel broken by situations. Actually, being in a state of brokenness is when God does some of His best work! When we come to the end of ourselves, our agendas, our way of wanting to do things, God can then have His way in our lives. Remember, God is a gentleman, and He will not force you to do anything that you do not want to do. He may give you direction, but you are so focused on doing things your way you disregard His voice. He is not going to come down and holler in your face and say, “I told you to do this!!” No, not at all. He gives us free will, and I believe He waits on us to realize that we cannot go through this life without Him. I will be the first to say going through growing pains does not feel good at all. You know what growing pains are…those situations you have to experience to grow. God wants us to be free from all bondage so He searches our hearts, and He uproots any and everything that is not like Him so that He can replace that now vacant spot with more of Him. Our goal as believers of Christ is to reflect Christ in everything that we do and say. So that means we have to die to our ways of doing things and die to our ways of thinking, so we can embrace and adopt His way.

There are times when we are doing things God’s way. We listen to Him and trust Him, yet we still find ourselves in a battle. If this happens to you, do not become discouraged. Allow your faith muscles to be exercised. God is right there with you every step of the way. Think back to when you were in school and learned a new subject. You took notes and paid attention in class because you never knew when a pop quiz or test would be given, but you expected it, so you made sure you were prepared. As believers, we’re told that the weapon would be formed but it would not prosper. We were already warned that tests and trials would come our way. We were also encouraged to remember that we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus who loves us, and because of this, we can do all things through Him who loves us. When the trials of life come, whatever is in you will come to the surface. This is a good gauge on your spiritual growth.

Test and trials can be challenging. Life lessons can be unkind at times. Even if you feel broken, God is there to put you back together. He is the potter, and we are the clay. God never told us that we would never go through anything, but He did promise to be with us, strengthen us, and give us peace in the middle of storms. He promised to order our steps and provide us with wisdom. Even in those times of not understanding, we can still rest in Him because He understands, and He knows. There may be times when you cannot put into words the feelings or emotions you may be experiencing but guess what? God knows even when you don’t. That’s how awesome He is. God knows you better than you know yourself! Just keep trusting God and trust the process. It is working for your good!
